5 Dark Nights of the Soul MOORE, THOMAS
United Kingdom Little, Brown Book Group 2004 0749925574 / 9780749925574 Paperback
Good , 8vo A 'dark night of the soul' is not a psychological syndrome, but a quest for meaning during life's darkest hours: the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, aging and illness, career disappointments or just an ongoing dissatisfaction with life. Thomas Moore's extensive experience as a psychologist and theologian has taught him that the dark night is a challenge to restore ourselves and to become someone of substance, depth and soul. By using these trying times as an opportunity to reflect and delve into the soul's deepest needs, we can find a new understanding of life's meaning. Dark Nights of the Soul has its roots in a favourite chapter in Thomas Moore's million copy bestseller, Care of the Soul. In this beautifully-written and thought-provoking work he explores our contemporary anxieties and insecurities and shows how these metaphoric dark nights can become transforming rites of passage. 'I soulfully recommend it without reservation.' John Bradshaw, author of Homecoming

6 Principia Ethica MOORE, G.E., BALDWIN, THOMAS
United Kingdom Cambridge University Press 1994 0521448484 / 9780521448482 Paperback
Good Condition, nice clean copy great value cheap postage on weekends Principia Ethica is recognised as the definitive starting point for twentieth-century ethical theory. Its influence was first largely confined to the Bloomsbury Group - Maynard Keynes wrote that it was 'better than Plato' - who took it up for its celebration of the values of art and love; but later it achieved the widespread recognition it still retains as a classic text of analytic ethical theory. It is particularly renowned for Moore's argument that previous ethical theories have been guilty of a fallacy - the 'naturalistic fallacy'. Principia Ethica is reprinted here with the previously unpublished Preface Moore wrote for a planned, but never completed, second edition. Though unfinished, it sets out clearly Moore's second thoughts about his own work. The volume also includes two important pieces from his later ethical writings, 'Free will' and 'The conception of intrinsic value', and a new introduction by Thomas Baldwin.

8 Soul Mates MOORE, THOMAS
Harper Perennial 1994 0060925752 / 9780060925758
Good , 8vo - 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Self-help books of the last decade have treated the mind, body and spirit as three dimensions of life. Contemporary theologian and family therapist Moore perceives the soul as a fourth dimension. In Soul Mates (the sequel to Care of the Soul) Moore examines the soul and relationships, particularly ended love affairs. Moore reads with a soft, yet strong, reassuring voice. His "no-frills" delivery suits the subject matter. The result is gut-wrenching for his followers but may promote sleep in others. D.W.K.
